The Google Analytics Overview is a report that displays the most important Google Analytics data on one page.

How to get there:

Login > Select Domain > Analytics

  1. Login to your account.
  2. Select one of your domains.
  3. Click on “Analytics” in the top menu bar.

Graph View:

By default this graph indicates the number of sessions per day over the specified period of time (visible in the top right hand corner). The graph view gives you the ability to quickly identify trends. Example: A big drop in traffic on a specific day may indicate an issue that needs to be investigated further.

Closer View:

When you mouse over a specific day in your graph, you can view the number of sessions (or whichever metrics you are viewing), broken down by day.

Choose Your Date Range:

The dropdown allows you to set the date range of your data to the following:

  • Last 7 Days
  • Last 30 Days
  • This Month
  • Last Month
  • Custom Range

Important: The date range resets every time you navigate to a different page. For example, if you set the date rage to be the last 7 days on the overview page and then navigate to the Audience, page, you will have to set the date range again as it will reset to the last 30 days.

Compare Metric:

You have the option to compare the following metric:

Session
% New Session
Users
Bounce Rate

Conversion Rate
Goal Completion

vs

Nothing
Bounce Rate
Goal Completion

Users
Pageviews
% New Session

When comparing various metric, you will be able to identify the correlation between 2 variables easily.

Important: Investigate further if you are comparing 2 sets of metric and you identify an inconsistency in your trend.
